About SBMEN Courses

SBMEN courses follow a curriculum – evaluated by its four-member board and standards committee – that is designed to increase an editor’s knowledge and proficiency. The curriculum is focused on the mastery of three components of editorial education: (1) Editorial management (2) Writing and critiquing (3) Business management to provide a holistic education for editors based on global publishing practices.

The learning outcomes are:

Training Workshops

The workshops hold every quarter, four times a year for four (4) weekends (one month). The short courses hold four (4) times a year for a duration of two (2) days. At the end of the training year, participants should have acquired or improved their editing skills, gained expert knowledge and enjoyed personal networking opportunities. See training workshop calendar.

About Custom Training

SBMEN provides custom training to private and public organisations. Our objective is to help organisations to improve the editorial competencies of their workforce that correspond with their roles, responsibilities, and organisational expectations. We can provide training in editing, editorial project management, business communications and writing, among others.

Workshop Fees

Workshop fees for every workshop covers the cost of training, course materials and refreshments. These fees are non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances. Workshop fees may vary from workshop to workshop. The cost of the workshop can be found on the website. See training workshop calendar.

Facilitators

SBMEN facilitators are industry professionals drawn from publishing and other areas of media with at least eight years’ experience. They are involved expediting participants’ performance, especially the beginners, as it usually takes from 18 months to 2 years of practice before competence is achieved.
